Marvin Gaye wrote “Got to Give It Up” in 1977 as a response to his record label to perform disco music. In the States, it made it to atop three different Billboard charts, along with having similar international success. The song was covered by many acts, including the Detroit-based garage rock band The Dirtbombs.
