The County Board voted 9-0 to keep the pools at Noyes and Pulaski parks open, a move that followed a community drive that included an online petition with more than 600 signatures. A $100,000 donation from Brown Deer resident Stanley Kass in memory of his late wife, Lee, who frequently swam at the Noyes pool, will help pay for much needed repairs.
It could be another week before a decision is made on a Kenosha casino. Governor Walker says there are a lot of documents to review and he's thinking about hiring a consulting firm to help sort through all the data.
Military veterans are invited to attend a screening of the HBO produced movie "The Strange History of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell" at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center today from 1 to 3pm. in the Matousek Auditorium. The movie is a part of LGBT history month.
The Alverno College Research Center for Women and Girls will offer free bullying prevention training to all teachers, administrators and support staff on November 9th from noon to 4pm. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by November 1st. Training is made possible by a grant from the Charles D Jacobus Foundation, whose focus is to encourage the healthy development of children in Milwaukee County.
