Officials at the Wisconsin Center district are expected to learn this month the details of what an expanded convention center might look like and how it would be financed. A recent report by the Public Policy Forum concluded the cost of an expansion is estimated at $300 to $400 million, taking into account the higher estimate includes the cost for additional parking. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will spend $25 million on navigation projects in the Great Lakes, including dredging harbors of silt because of low water levels. This maintenance will help provide better access for ships since the harbors have become so shallow they're increasingly unusable.

The Democratic National Committee is no longer considering the City of Milwaukee to host their 2016 Democratic National Convention. Mayor Barrett notes that the possibility of the 2016 Convention being moved from fall to summer to compete with an early Republican Convention would have conflicted with several events already scheduled to take place in Milwaukee.

Two performance artists in NYC are spending 10 days living, eating and sleeping on a giant hamster wheel to make the point: We all have to work together to get through the daily grind. One wrong move by either artist and they risk being thrown off the wheel, as they stay perched 180 degrees from each other, carefully coordinating their movements. Video link found here.
