As reported by the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service, finalists were announced yesterday for the 2014 Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation, also known as the "MANDIs". The awards recognize individuals, organizations and corporations that are working to improve conditions in Milwaukee's central city neighborhoods. More than 100 people statewide have now been hospitalized with the flu, many of them in Milwaukee County. State health officials say now is the crucial time to get vaccinated. Young and middle-aged adults are most at risk for getting this year's strain of the flu.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is in need of millions of dollars to continue putting on performances and they are asking the public for help. The MSO will be forced to shut down if they don't receive $5 million. Since the beginning of the month, they have received 900 donations totaling $700,000. Info on how you can help found here.

Target has confirmed that its stores have been hit by a major credit card attack involving up to 40 million accounts. The retailer said the data breach took place between Nov 27 and Dec 15. They are working closely with law enforcement and financial institutions and have identified and resolved the issue. Customers are encouraged to check their bank statements for fraudulent charges.
