The Milwaukee County Transit System is hosting an open house today to demonstrate new technology coming soon to the system's 400 buses. On display, new fareboxes that will accept smart cards as well as cash, a new onboard announcement system and real-time tracking for buses accessible by computer and smartphone.

A dozen finalists were named for a public art initiative that will take place on West Wisconsin Avenue next summer and fall. 12 finalists will present their ideas at City Hall on Dec. 10th from 6 to 8pm and a jury of art and public space experts will select two to four winners. Public is welcome to attend.

Milwaukee joins over 100 cities across the nation today as fast food employees stage protests and demand wage increases. Wisconsin's minimum wage is $7.25 and employees are asking at least $15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation.

Midwest Bikeshare plans to set up 28 new bike stations in downtown Milwaukee next year with support from a state and city grant. Bikeshare lets people pay a membership fee to check out bikes from designated stations. The 28 new stations will be set up four to six blocks apart throughout downtown.
