The TSA is abandoning a plan to allow passengers to carry small knives, souvenir bats, golf clubs and other sports equipment onto planes after fierce opposition from airline groups, labor unions and some law enforcement groups.
Senators are considering competing version of legislation that would keep interest rates low for some college students. State Democrats want a 2-year Stafford loan with a 3.4% rate while Republicans want to link interest rates to 10 year Treasury note, where rates start low but climb as the economy improves.
Old World Wisconsin will hold an open house Monday evening for anyone interested in joining their baseball team, the Eagle Diamonds. The team plays by 1860's base ball rules. Players don't use gloves and dress in woolen uniforms inspired by the original Waukesha Diamonds and plays on the historical site at Old World Wisconsin's Ward School Field.
This weekend marks the 25th Annual PrideFest, a celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture and the LGBT community. The festival runs Friday through Sunday with musical acts including the Indigo Girls, Amanda Palmer and Andy Bell from Erasure.
