The AIDS Resource Center of WI has been awarded a grant worth $1.3 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide rental assistance and supportive services. The grant will provide housing assistance to low-income people with AIDS and their families.

Milwaukee County hired a new parks director, former head of the Fairfax County, Virgina Parks Authority, 49-year-old John Dargle Jr. While at Farifax County, his system won a national Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.

The WI DOT has issued an advisory to motorists to be on the lookout for deer this time of the year. June is one of the worst months for driver and passenger injuries due to deer collisions. The DOT asks you be vigilant in early morning and evening hours, the most active time for deer. If you see a deer by the side of the road, slow down and blow your horn with one long blast and remember...deer seldom run alone. 18,864 deer vs. motor vehicle crashes were reported last year.

Made In Milwaukee's next installment of Bay View Gallery Night, a celebration of local art, music, business and community starts tonight at 5pm. Over 40 local businesses will host more than 100 local artists for the evening.
