Former South African President Nelson Mandela, who has been hospitalized since June 8th for a recurring lung infection, is now in critical condition. Officials say his condition worsened in the past 24 hours. Mandela is 94 years old.

American Chip Starnes, owner of Specialty Medical Supplies, has been held captive in his Beijing factory for four days by his own workers. His employees are demanding the same severance packages given to 30 co-workers, even though he has promised them they are not being laid off. Over 80 workers have been blocking every exit around the clock and depriving him of sleep by shining bright lights and banging on windows in his office.

Blues legend Bobby "Blue" Bland died yesterday due to complications from an ongoing illness at his Memphis, TN home. Bland was known as the "Sinatra of the Blues" and was heavily influenced by Nat King Cole.

As reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal, six years ago, film industry supporters rejoiced when the state of WI introduced a tax credit program meant to lure filmmakers to the state. The new State budget approved by the State Assembly eliminates the tax credits as part of a package meant to streamline the state's tax code.
