The newly formed Friends of Bronzeville kicks off their inaugural event "Bronzeville Week" in Milwaukee's historical neighborhood. Activities include guided trolley tours, gallery nights, health screenings, a neighborhood cleanup and healthy food demonstrations. The week concludes at 11am Aug 24 with a march that begins at the King statue on King Drive and proceeds down to Victory over Violence Park.

The state Department of Public Instruction released data showing the majority of students who applied for receive a taxpayer-funded subsidy to attend a private, religious school in WI's new statewide voucher program currently attend private schools. Out of the 2,069 eligible students who applied for the vouchers, 1,393 students were already attending a private school last year without the help of taxpayer dollars.

Procter & Gamble is voluntarily recalling several kinds of Iams and Eukanuba dog and cat food because it has potential to contain salmonella. Salmonella may infect both the pets eating the food and owners handling the products without thoroughly washing their hands afterward.

Meta House, a Milwaukee substance abuse treatment center for women, is auctioning off some unique dinners as a part of its 50th anniversary celebration. Prizes include dinner with Milwaukee celebrities like Milwaukee owner Sue Black, coach Keith Tozer and two Wave players, Fox 6 reporter Katrina Cravy and host of "WI Foodie" Kyle Cherek.
