Jessie Rodriguez won the Republican primary Tuesday in the special election for the 21st Assembly District. She will face Democrat Elizabeth Coppola in the general election on Nov. 19th. The 21st Assembly District includes Franklin, Oak Creek and South Milwaukee.

Two Milwaukee firefighters that lost their jobs after a vandalism scandal, have launched a petition in hopes of getting their jobs back at Engine 32. They were on probation during the incident, giving them no right to appeal. More on this story here.

The FDA issued pet owners another warning about chicken jerky products made in China. Since 2007, 3,600 dogs have become ill because of these treats and nearly 600 of those pets have died. Inspections of the processing plants in China have not come up with a cause of the illness.

Gov. Scott Walker is meeting with the leaders of the Menominee Indian Tribe of WI today about the proposed casino in Kenosha. As part of the casino deal, Menominee tribal chairman Craig Corn will close one of its two existing casinos and agree to build the new casino on the site of the former Dairyland Greyhound Park.  Walker is expected to make a decision on the proposal by the end of the week.
