Laurie Wynn, teacher, union leader and longtime civil rights activist, will receive the 24th annual James Howard Baker Award that recognizes contributions to Milwaukee's African-American community. Wynn was a MPS teacher and became the first African-American to become president of the Wisconsin Education Association Council in 1973.

As reported by the MBJ: Children's Hospital of Wisconsin opened its latest outpatient specialty clinic Tuesday in Fox point. The facility will provide asthma/allergy, dermatology, ENT and urology specialty care for children and adolescents. 

A 1969 painting by Francis Bacon set a world record for the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction, when it was purchased for $142.4 million after 6 minutes of "fierce bidding". Also up for sale was Jeff Koons' orange "Balloon Dog", a 10-foot stainless steal sculpture resembling a twisted child's party balloon. It sold for $58.4 million, a world auction record for a living artist.
