After 10 hours of closed-door meetings in the Joint Finance Committee, Republican legislative leaders passed a proposal shortly after 1am this morning that would nearly double Gov. Scott Walker's income tax cut over the next two years, expand private school vouchers statewide and allow public school funding to increase. The budget will be debated next in the Assembly.

Major League Baseball is set to suspend about 20 players in the coming weeks due to a scandal involving performance-enhancing drugs, according to an ESPN report. The network says it is potentially the worst drug abuse case in the history of baseball. Ryan Braun among the 20 players that could be suspended although he denies using the drugs.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Milwaukee County officials unveiled a new app designed by UW-Milwaukee students that will allow users to track city buses along their routes. The Milwaukee County app, available for download in late summer, will feature other Milwaukee County Transit System info including route schedules and stops, information about the county zoo, parks and General Mitchell International Airport.

Summerfest announced several new daytime activities designed at drawing more families to the fest during the day. A New Orleans "second-line" style parade will take place at 3pm June 26-28th and July 2nd & 5th, Skydive Milwaukee will perform jumps over Lake Michigan landing in Lakeshore State Park and a daytime headlining show starting Cody Simpson, a teenage Australian musician on July 3rd.
