With a new school year just around the corner, the City of Milwaukee Health Department has announced the dates and locations of the city's 13th annual Back-to-School Health Fairs. They're both being held on Fridays, August 2nd and the 16th from 10am to 3pm. Locations and more information found online.
As reported by the MBJ, Lakefront Brewery has obtained an option to buy 9.3 acres in Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley that it could use for a second brewery location. The option agreement means the Milwaukee-based brewery can explore the site to see if it fits the company's needs for a second brewery.
Capitol police Wednesday arrested protesters of Gov. Scott Walker who have been violating state permitting rules with their rallies in the Statehouse rotunda. 22 of the 60 protesters, including a pair of Madison talk radio hosts, were led away in flex-tie restraints. Demonstrators have gathered in the Capitol for their daily singing protests.
The Milwaukee Health Department on Wednesday confirmed five more mysterious cases of Legionnaires' disease, bringing the total number of city residents diagnosed with the potentially fatal form of pneumonia to 19 since June 1st. Public health officials have taking environmental samples from potential sources, including cooling towers on top of large buildings, a decorative outdoor fountain and an outdoor swimming complex with water spraying devices...all tests coming back negative. Legionnaires' disease is acquired after inhaling mist or water vapor from a source that contains legionella bacteria.
