Picked to finish last their League, UW-Milwaukee Panthers beat Wright State last night to finish as their Conference champion. The Panthers will go on to play their first NCAA Tournament game since 2006.

The Wisconsin State Senate on Tuesday voted 25-8 to pass a bill designed to help Milwaukee County sell the Downtown Transit Center for the Couture development. The bill is intended to clear up the legal question of whether state law forbids private development of the transit center site on the Milwaukee Lakefront.

Financial consultants for Miller Park announced it's going to take taxpayers longer to pay for the stadium. Original projections had the stadium sales tax ending this year, but now extended the deadline to at least 2017, possibly 2021.  Taxpayers in five counties pay a penny in sales tax for every $10 to help pay for Miller Park. And to put that in perspective, Kelley's Bleachers pays about $10 a year.

On Thursday, President Obama will direct the Labor Department to revamp its regulations to require overtime pay for several million workers, the latest move by his administration to confront corporations that have had soaring profits even as wages have stagnated. Obama has also proposed raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 per hour from $7.25.
