A northern California wildfire grew to historic proportions early Monday, becoming the largest in state history. The sprawling Rim Fire, which has devoured nearly 144,000 acres in Yosemite, has scorched an area about the size of Chicago while more than 3.400 firefighters try to rein it in.
Milwaukee is installing cameras on 28 of its parking enforcement jeeps so it can eliminate the need for drivers to display overnight parking passes. The new technology will have cameras that read license plate numbers and check to see if a driver is parked legally. Cameras and software will be installed by the end of 2013.
Sniper fire hit a vehicle used by a U.N. chemical weapons investigation team in Syria multiple times Monday. The U.N. team was on its way to inspect the scene of an alleged chemical weapons attack in a Damascus suburb, after the Syrian government on Sunday agreed to grant the inspectors full access.
A proposed casino in Kenosha could mean a big boost to jobs in the area, but some are opposing the plan, saying it will hurt Milwaukee causing Potowatomi to loose jobs. The casino still needs approval from Gov. Scott Walker.
