As reported by the MBJ: Milwaukee County's potential sale of the O'Donnell Park parking structure to Northwestern Mutual is getting push-back from County Board members and the Milwaukee Art Museum director. Northwestern Mutual needs more parking spaces to accommodate 1,700 downtown employees the company plans to add by the end of 2025.
A Zilber Property Group affiliate sold the Lewis Center office in downtown Milwaukee for $11.2 million to a Chicago investor a month after renewing U.S. Bank's lease for the building. The lease extension will last another 12 years.
Cyclone Phailin forced nearly half a million people to evacuate their homes in India Sunday. The cyclone caused widespread damage as it flooded towns, tangled power lines and destroyed millions of dollars' worth of crops. Although tens of thousands of homes were destroyed, authorities said they knew of only 17 fatalities, thanks to early evacuation warnings.
Cycling on Milwaukee's south side got a boost Saturday as the city officially opened a section of trail for pedestrians and cyclists along the Kinnickinnic River. The 2-mile path is a mix of off-street train and on-street bike lanes that begins near the intersections of S. 6th St and W. Rosedale Ave and stretches to E. Washington St.
