The latest phase in the Zoo interchange project begins tomorrow when the Cleveland Avenue Bridge closes over Interstate 894. Crews will start taking the bridge down later this week and the freeway surrounding it will be closed overnight Friday and Saturday. Drivers can get around that area by taking Oklahoma Ave, HWY 100 or 92nd Street. The work is expected to be done by November.

Sprecher Brewing Co. took nine awards at the 2013 Los Angeles International Commercial Beer competition. Glendale-based Sprecher's awards included one gold for Commando, a wood-and barrel-aged strong brew and three silvers for Black Bavarian, Mai Bock and Firelight.

Due to high demand and a waiting list of more than 100 prospective students, Woodlands School will open its second location this fall, according to school Principal Maureen Sullivan. Woodlands East, will be at 3121 W State St after renovations are completed on the former Indian Community School, which has been vacant for the past nine years.

From the blog GOOD: An ad agency in Germany set up two seemly-conflicting ads across from each other at a bus stop: one ad advertised an abundance of food at a local store and the other talked about the 870 million people in the world suffering from hunger. While waiting for the bus, someone can use their smartphone to virtually "pick up" a piece of food in one poster and carry it over to the other to make ad donation to the World Food Programme.
