True Skool, an after-school and summer program for high school students that engages teens in the arts, is preparing for a grand opening Friday at its new location in the Plankinton Building. The arts program had been located on the north side since 2006. Info online at radiomilwaukee.org

Free flu shot clinics are being held today to combat a flu season that has been brutal in Wisconsin with more than 500 hospitalizations. 100 free shots are available on a first come, first served basis at St. Vincent de Paul , 931 W. Madison Street in Milwaukee from 4:30 to 6pm.

The Oriental Theater on Milwaukee's East Side re-opened yesterday, after a broken boiler caused the 86-year-old movie house to suddenly close its doors last week.

The Helen Bader Foundation has awarded a $1.5 million grant to the University of WI Foundation to improve access to Alzheimer's care and education in rural and under-served communities throughout the state. The Wisconsin Alzheimer's Institute will use the five-year grant to focus on awareness, as they estimate that nearly 50% of those who have Alzheimer's disease are not diagnosed and by 2025, 130,000 Wisconsinites older than 65 will have Alzheimer's.
