2010 Saturday Session Recap

by Tarik Moody

Well 2011 is here. With the new year will come a lot of new mixes from Milwaukee's finest DJs.  As we look forward in 2011 we've already confirmed that Demetri Nocturnal, Kid Cut Up and Ambient Tribe will all return to the Saturday Session.  We've also reached out to a long list of new DJs and are excited to bring some brand new sounds to the Saturday Session.

Before we move forward, I though we'd look back at some of the highlights of the last few months of the show.

We wrapped up the year with our top 10 (12) Remixes of 2010. This was a feature in 2009, and I wanted to bring it back.  We had so many great albums come to us this year, and many of the tracks we spun everyday on 88NINE,were remixed.  I spin many of these remixes when I play out, so I thought I'd countdown many favorites.  Many MKE DJs* had some great remixes this year that also made the list.

12. Of Montreal "Coquette Coquette" YiP Deceiver Remix

11. Major Lazer "Pon De Floor" Kid Cut Up Remix *

10. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros "Home" Party Supplies Remix

9. Two Door Cinema Club " What You Know" Double Drop Remix *

8. Adele "Rolling In The Deep" Dan Clare Club Remix

7. Ra Ra Riot "Boy" RAC Remix

6. Junip " Always" Run Roc Remix

5. Black Keys " Howlin' For You" Prins Thomas Diskomiks

4. The Temper Trap "Sweet Disposition" Kenney Perez & Orbitron Remix *

3. Phoenix " 1901 " LMNTlyst Fall In Remix *

2. Quadron "Average Fruit" SLYM Remix *

1. Cee Lo Green " Forget You " Le Castlevania Remix

I also received a number of requests to re-broadcast my 2009 X MAS Remixed set.

I created this set for my family as a gift in 2009, and I played in Christmas weekend of 2009.  On the night of Dec 25th 2010 I played this one again for all the world to enjoy.

( You can download the mix and share it with your friends and family! )

Just before the holidays, our favorite Milwaukee Dubstep producer /DJ HORSEFORCE came back to the Session.  He had a lot to say about the MKE DJ scene, and some really interesting observations about the pros and cons of the music scene he's so strongly a part of.  This is must listen…

Tune in Saturday Nights from 10pm to Midnight every Saturday to hear more great MKE DJs and if you or someone you know is interested in being on the Saturday Session… HIT ME UP!    jordan@radiomilwaukee.org
