New Fall Sounds on Sound Travels | October 1st, 2017

Less a mixtape and more a roundup of some the dopest new releases on the global music scene, this week featured some dope releases from all over the place. Lots of reggae, but I also featured music from Mali, Brazil, Colombia and Nigeria as well. A crucial new release from the mad scientist of dub, Lee "Scratch" Perry kicks things off and from there we dig into some reggae releases from retro roots rockers The Expanders as well as New Zealand's Black Seeds.

Mali's most beloved blind couple, Amadou and Mariam are back with a forward-leaning release of groovy Afropop and twin sisters Ibeyi are back with an album with great depth as well. South American artists also make the grade; Brazil's Curumin hits a funky note on his new album B O C A and Bomba Estereo bring tropical fire fromtheir base in Colombia. The session ends with a pair of nice Naijapop cuts from Mr. Eazi and D'Banj that are well worth checking into.
