With the release of his eighth studio album last October, Josh Ritter is a seasoned singer, songwriter and performer. He started his recording career in 1999, while at school at Oberlin College; and Ritter's eighth studio album, Sermon on the Rocks, is filled with biblical references that were a part of his upbringing in Moscow, Idaho. Ritter himself has described the album as a "messianic oracular honky-tonk" and, with twisted, grabby wordplay throughout the project, the sentiment certainly rings true.
