Last Thursday, Chicago-based band Wild Belle came to 88Nine and performed in our brand new performance space; the second live show in our space and first group to bring the entire band in for a super-intimate performance which was broadcast live during the 1pm hour.
Wild Belle is a band built around soulful rhythm & grooves and rocks steady with a heady blend of rhythm & blues, early reggae sounds and a certain Caribbean flair. If this is the new indie sound, sign me up. Not only can they control the sound, they were also extremely nice (definite plus) to stop by for a quick performance on their way to the High Noon Saloon in Madison.
Their debut album, Isles, dropped in March of this year on Columbia Records and is solid from start to finish and swings well into a repeat listen. If you haven't heard, it's one of my absolute favorites for 2013. Fingers crossed, let's hope they squeeze a lil Milwaukee in their current tour!
