  • 5 Things to Do This Weekend

Much to the disappointment of everyone in Milwaukee, this region seems to be clinging on to the last bit of winter. With the possibility of snow in the forecast, we unfortunately will all have to continue to duck indoors for at least one more week now. Luckily, there is no shortage of activities to distract us from the dismal weather. This weekend features a good mix of music, culture, and sports. The following is a list of 5 things people can do this weekend while we ride out what hopefully is the end of winter.

James Vincent McMorrow- Friday, March 28th at Turner Hall

Irish singer songwriter, James Vincent McMorrow, comes to Turner Hall on Friday promoting his new album Post Tropical.  This event is most certainly a must- see for anyone looking for a nice relaxing evening out.  McMorrow  or McDreamy (I am sure he is called this by females around the US) has the voice of an angel that can move the strongest of men to tears. I strongly recommend you to stop by Turner Hall and witness what is sure to be a heartfelt performance.

Juicy J- Saturday, March 29th at The Rave

While McMorrow can ease you into the weekend, a visit to the Rave this Saturday will most definitely not be so subtle. Juicy J, founding member of the popular group Three 6 Mafia, is on tour promoting his new solo album. J’s combination of heart pumping beats and aggressive lyrics offers you different type of experience this weekend. If excitement is your bag, I definitely recommend you pay a visit to the Rave on Saturday, March 29th.

Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks- Saturday, March 29th

The Bucks’ season can be labeled a lot of things. Disappointing, atrocious, and embarrassing are all adjectives that come to my mind. Despite their horrific record this year, there are still some exciting games ahead. The Bucks play host to Lebron James and the Miami Heat on Saturday, March 19th.  On paper, the game looks to be a blow out. However, the Heat have been struggling on the road as of late (1-6 over the last 7). This could be a great opportunity for the Bucks to steal one from the 2 time defending champions.

Grand Rapids Griffins vs Milwaukee Admirals- Sunday, March 28th

It has been an up and down season for Milwaukee hockey this year. However, the Admirals are still in position to make the AHL playoffs. With only 4 points separating them from a playoff berth and a 9th place finish in the Western Conference, the Admirals will need every point they can from here on out. This Sunday, the Midwest Division leading Griffins come to town. The Admirals will have to fight hard to hold on to their playoff hopes.

Julius Caesar- Marcus Center Opera House March 28th and March 30th

If refined culture is on the agenda for this weekend, check out the Florentine Opera Company’s production of Julius Caesar at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts. Sex, love, violence, and betrayal will take center stage, all accompanied by a full orchestra. And really, what more could you ask for?
