Here at 88Nine, we love Milwaukee and we hate being bored. The worst is when you know there are cool things going on, but you just don’t know what those things are. So tonight, when you are done eating dinner and you think, “well, now what?” consult this list. These are 5 things that we are looking forward to this weekend in Milwaukee.

5. Jazz.

If you are a hepcat who digs beeps and bops, get hip to Jazz in the Park tonight. So get down to Cathedral Square Park tonight to drink in public and snap your fingers to the beat.

4. Daylight.

The 21st is the Summer Solstice which means that the days are only going to get shorter till this time next year. So let’s live it up! We will be celebrating Earth’s maximum axial tilt on the East Side this Saturday. The Summer Solstice Music Festival will be going on all day with plenty of bands on North Ave, playing long after the sun goes down.

3. Portugal. The Man.

It is no secret that we love Portugal. The Man here at 88Nine. That lo-fi guitar blast in Evil Friends has launched us into in studio mosh pits and choruses of “it’s not because the light here is brighter” when that on air bulb lights up. This Friday. Pabst Theater. Portugal. The man.

2. Haggling on hip junk.

There is a Riverwest Rummage Sale this weekend. In classic Riverwest fashion there are no real set times and no exact addresses yet, but, that just makes it all the cooler. Right?  Break out the small bills, and prepare for serious crate digging. I want this.

1. Going to Jaill.

Lakefront Festival of the Art will be going on all weekend, and on Friday night, Milwaukee-band-that-made-it Jaill will be headlining the Main Stage at 8:30 this Friday. Their new/old tape was released on Burger Records this week. Peep it and we will see you at the show. Also, 88Nine’s own DJ Madhatter will be spinning Friday at 3:30, so twice the reason to head out.

If you want to add an even to our calendar, go here and add it. Or just look at stuff. Whatever.
