The UW-Milwaukee Art History Department's biennial museum studies seminar presents "Fragments of Faith", an exhibition of religious and ritual artifacts donated to the UWM Art Collection over the last forty years. The objects on display include medieval Christian reliquaries and African fetish figures that demonstrate not only the manifold ways in which humans give material expression to the sacred, but also profound similarities among the spiritual practices of diverse peoples.
Join us for our opening reception on Thursday, May 2nd from 5-7pm. There will be a gallery talk by the graduate student curators at 5:30pm. A lecture by area collector, Mark Wentzel will take place Tuesday, May 7th at 2pm. The exhibition runs May 2 through May 23.
The gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours, Monday through Thursday 11 to 4 p.m. The gallery is located in Mitchell Hall Room 154, 3203 North Downer Avenue.
