Museum engages people with Alzheimer's

A program at the Milwaukee Public Museum is helping people with living Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia to stay mentally stimulated.

The free service, called SPARK!, invites people with early to middle stages of memory loss in for a private tour, allowing them to use the museum’s exhibits to engage their senses.

Caregivers and their loved ones participate in a discussion and have the chance to see museum objects up close, in a private and judgment-free environment.

SPARK! is offered twice monthly, and each tour focuses on a different part of the museum.  The program is funded by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation with support from the Alzheimer's Association.
