A Trip To Your Sample

This week on Seven O'Clock Sample, we are looking back on the music of Sly and The Family Stone. In 1967, Sly released his debut album on CBS records.  A WHOLE NEW THING did not receive much success when it first dropped.  No songs from the album even hit the charts.  While it may have been a commercial flop, it was a big success in the funk and psychedelic scenes.  

Songs like "I Cannot Make It" and "If These Walls Cold Talk", found there way to many Sly greatest hit's albums, and the b-sides on this project became Hip Hop sample favorites.

Such an interesting song, and a cool vocal sample that was used on LL COOL J's mega hit "Mama Said Knock You Out"
