This Saturday marks the 49th annual Milwaukee Veterans Day Parade. Starting at 11am, more than 1,500 veterans will march through downtown starting at the corner of 4th and Kilbourn Ave and winding down Wells to the Milwaukee War Memorial.

The DNR will be doing some controlled burning on public land in Wisconsin this fall as a way to limit unwanted plants, stimulate prairie grass and improve the habitat for game and waterfowl. Burns are scheduled in south central Wisconsin, including Dane, Walworth and Waukesha counties.

Milwaukee is one of the 20 cities named a finalist in The Mayor's Challenge, a national competition organized by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg. More than 300 cities entered the competition to generate innovative, local solutions to national problems. The grand prize for the winning idea is $5 million.

Restaurants, bars and retail establishments around the city today are giving discounts just for wearing your "I Voted" sticker today.  A list of locations can be found here.
