For the second time in two years, Republicans in the state legislature are proposing a new bill that would eliminate early voting on weekends and limit the hours on week days. In-person absentee voting used to run for three weeks in Wisconsin, including three full weekends and the Monday before the election. That was cut down to two weeks and one weekend. Now Assembly bill 54 would eliminate early voting on weekends and limit the hours on weekdays. More than 36,000 people voted early in the City of Milwaukee for the November election.
1,500 print makers from across the globe are coming to Milwaukee for the Southern Graphics Council International Conference, one of the most important gatherings in the field of printmaking. The conference, co-hosted by UW-Milwaukee's Peck School of the Arts and MIAD, starts today and continues through Saturday.
The Green Bay City Council has approved re-naming a street in Donald Driver's honor. Pearl Street will be changed to Donald Driver Way. Mayor Jim Schmitt proposed the name change during Driver's retirement ceremony in February.
The Milwaukee Brewers unveiled a new attraction inside Miller Park yesterday....a new rock-climbing wall. The Klement's Racing Sausages were the first to ascend the 25-foot climbing wall, a replica of a Mountain Dew Can. The wall was one of three significant improvements the Brewers paid for during the offseason. Other improvements are the Miller Lite Party Deck, build above the right-field loge seats and the SKYY Lounge on the concourse of the club level.
