Governor Scott Walker told reporters Thursday that his next budget proposal will feature a significant income tax cut to lower the burden on the middle class as the economy rebounds. He will outline his budget next month, but may give more details during his State of the State speech next Tuesday.
Milwaukee Public Schools are partnering with community groups to launch a new campaign aimed at supporting young male minority students. The program is called "Saving Our Sons - I will not die young" and will be launched at 10am today at the Coffee Makes You Black coffee shop, 2803 N Teutonia Avenue. The focus will be on increasing attendance, academic achievement and school engagement of at-risk minority students.
As reported by GOOD Magazine, Micro Power Design is a company dedicated to finding lighting solutions for those who need it most, like hurricane victims and people who live "off the gird. They've developed "Luci" an inflatable low cost solar powered light. It's low cost, long lasting and inflatable, while avoiding the use of kerosene, which will save money, protect health and prevent climate change emissions.
Kids From Wisconsin, the state's Official Musical Ambassadors of Goodwill, are holding auditions for their summertime musical troupe. There are 33 open positions for dancers, vocalists and band members between the ages of 15 and 20. Applications are available online and due by January 18th. Live auditions will be held Feb 22-24th.
