Today, President Barack Obama will unveil a package of gun control proposals that include universal background checks and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He will be joined by a group of children who wrote letters to him after the December shooting at the school in Connecticut.

Hunger Task Force received confirmation yesterday they will receive the leftover dairy products that were going to be disposed of after the sudden closing of the Golden Guernsey dairy plant in Waukesha. Milk deliveries will continue through the week and there is a call for help being put out to trucking companies that can spare a semi and a driver for a day to help make deliveries to areas that need help like Madison, Appleton, Eau Claire, La Crosse and Green Bay.

The race to secure a spot in the 2013 Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon started this week. In recent years, the 3,100 registration slots have been filled by late April for the 33rd annual event. Registration information on the October 6th Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon can be found on our Facebook page.
