Tonight is a chance for city residents to hear more about County Executive Chris Abele’s 2012 recommended budget. Issues may stem from property taxes, health care premiums, and changes to the Department of Transportation and Public Works. The hearing starts at 7 at the Washington Park Senior Center.

Hundreds chanted, "we are the 99%" during an Occupy the Hood Milwaukee rally in Lincoln Park on Saturday. Protesters then marched to the Tower Automotive Plant on the city's north side. Organizers are hoping that the Occupy Wall Street movements shift into city neighborhoods where high unemployment still exists. This is the first of several rallies organizers have planned for Occupy the Hood Milwaukee.

Lady Antebellum is set to headline the Marcus Amphitheater for Summerfest 2012. Yes, we’re looking out to next summer already. This is Summerfest’s earliest headliner announcement ever, and the country trio will be joined by Darius Rucker and Thompson Square that same night.

Governor Walker’s Administration just found out that it won’t end up getting $45 million from the Federal Government to help close the shortfall in the state’s health plans for the poor. Instead, the state needs to find that much money or preserve those medical services over the next two years.

A study is well underway to see whether UW-Milwaukee can build a new sports arena. The university’s Athletic Director, Rick Costello, said the student body has made it quite clear that they want a sports arena on campus rather than having to travel downtown to see the panthers play at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Right now an architectural and engineering firm is in the middle of the study working out the costs and feasibility.

Today's there's a public meeting on the state's new concealed carry law at the Department of Natural Resources on MLK Drive. The new law goes into effect tomorrow, and this meeting is an opportunity for community members to get any questions they have, answered. Local and state elected officials will be at the meeting to provide information.
