Braise, Walker's Point farm-to-table restaurant led by chef David Swanson, made Bon Appetit magazine's list of 50 best new restaurants. Braise is noted in the article for their community-supported agriculture farm baskets, where customers can get local vegetables, meats and dairy products delivered to their home.
Renovations are under way to reopen the old Turner Hall restaurant. The BMO Harris Bradley Center is investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to add ameneties while preserving the classic features, such as the stained glass and historic murals. The restaurant is slated to open later this year after the start of the 2012-2013 sports and concert season.
The Wisconsin Ave. bridge over the Milwaukee River reopened yesterday afternoon, after being closed since October. The 37 year old lift bridge was a part of the $25 million project that included rebuilding the Juneau Avenue Bridge, which is still under construction.
Milwaukee Navy Week continues through the weekend until August 13th in conjunction with the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812. The city will be filled with events demonstrating the mission of the U.S. Navy and it's proud heritage. The USS De Wert is docked at Liquid Peir 5 in teh Port of Milwaukee.
