Postal workers in Milwaukee and Madison joined a nationwide effort yesterday to keep Saturday mail delivery, which ends in August. According to the U.S. Postal Service, its research shows most Americans support the change, but President of the WI State Association of Letter Carriers, Scott Van Derven worries people will realize the loss once it's too late.

As reported by the Milwaukee Business Journal, The Milwaukee County Board is protesting proposed cuts that would result in nighttime closings of the control tower at General Mitchell International Airport and the complete closing of the tower at Timmerman Airport on the city's northwest side. The closings are expected April 7th as a part of the across-the-board federal budget cuts known as sequestration. Timmerman is used as a reliever airport for Mitchell and a training facility for new pilots.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has flown into Afghanistan on an unannounced visit amid concerns the Afghan president may be jeopardizing progress in the war against extremism with anti-American rhetoric. Kerry arrived for a 24-hour visit to meet President Karzai (car-zee), civic leaders and others to discuss continued U.S. assistance to the country and coincides with the handover of a major detention center to Afghan officials.

In music news, Byran Devendorf, drummer for The National, revealed that their new album, Trouble Will Find Me, will feature an impressive lineup of guest musicians, including Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent and Sharon Van Etten. Devendorf also mentioned that Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Perry and Doveman also contributed and that the record's instrumentation includes clarinet, strings and brass.
