North Korea says it conducted a new, more powerful underground nuclear test using more sophisticated technology on Tuesday. It's the first nuclear test carried out by Kim Jon Un, as he sticks closely to his fathers policy of building up the state's military.

The state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin is suing Gov. Scott Walker's administration in federal court to stop arrests of the daily protesters at the state Capitol. The lawsuit seeks to block Capitol Police and the state Department of Administration from requiring permits for demonstrations and fining protesters who don't comply. Permitting rules have been in place since 1979 and WI rules are similar to protest rules in other states and the U.S. Capitol.

President Obama will give his second inaugural State of the Union address tonight, focusing on the economy and talking about jobs after the national unemployment rate ticked up last month. He will propose ways to make college more affordable to people and will argue for the need to spend public money on research, roads and education, to help grow the economy for everyone.

Milwaukee Public Schools is debuting "School Selections", its new online schools catalog as the enrollment process for 2013-14 is underway. The new catalog allows prospective families to find the right program for their children by location, grade level, specialty or program. This online program is for families who are new to MPS or those looking for a new MPS school. Families who use the online program will have the best opportunity to receive a seat in their first-choice school. A link to the online catalog is found here
