I have now lived in Milwaukee for about 8 months now, and I have to say I really like the city. However, people keep saying that segregation here is one of the worst in the country. Honestly, I don't believe that. This is the eight place I have lived throughout my life. Of all eight places Milwaukee is definitely not the most segregated city (not even in the top 4). I think what is happening here is the "Grass is greener on the other side" theory. Cities like Boston, DC, and New York are more segregated than Milwaukee. Milwaukee can't even compete with some cities in the south of comparable size for being the most segregated. Not to say there is not race issues in Milwaukee. There are race issues everywhere. Check out this video I found at one of my favorite blogs, The Assimilated Negro. Let me know what you think.
