Have you ever thought that Milwaukee needs a new advertising campaign? Do you have an idea for a campaign that would be viral and show the world how great Milwaukee is? If so, you may get $10,000 to execute your idea.
I received a message on twitter from a project called "Reveal Milwaukee." It was conceived by the non-profit Spirit of Milwaukee. The organization has earmakred a total of $50,000 to underwrite creative and persuasive ideas to capture and spread what you love about Milwaukee. Here is the details on the project and how you can get involved and possibly win $10,000 to fund your idea.
Reveal Milwaukee seeks unconventional methods and unique content so compelling it helps build positive buzz about Milwaukee. The winning projects will reveal a part of Milwaukee in such a memorable way that it naturally reaches wider audiences.
We’re not seeking a traditional advertising campaign. Other than that, how you do it is up to you. You can use any combination of technology, photography, news media, social media, video, music, events, web, buzz campaigns, meme propagation or any means that you see fit. Your imagination is the limit.
Your project can focus on the Milwaukee area as a whole. Or, it can reveal a specific aspect, such as our neighborhoods, musicians, performing arts, architecture, businesses, history, people, diversity, parks, natural resources, sports, athletics, events, visual arts, innovation or lifestyle.
Make it serious or funny. Make it visual or catchy. Make it literal or fictional. Just reveal some part of Milwaukee’s essence in a way that will make it viral.
We will fund projects for up to $10,000 each. To apply for funding, please send a proposal that includes:
* Name and contact info
* Name of project
* Project summary
* Implementation plan and timetable
* Target audience
* Relevant skills and experience
* Partners if any
* Budget (including cost of materials, services and time)
The narrative portion of proposals should be limited to two pages. Applicants may submit supporting materials, including photos, video, audio or websites.
Submission should be sent by mail or email to:
Spirit of Milwaukee
710 N. Plankinton Ave., Suite 340
Milwaukee, WI 53203
Submissions must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m., May 27, 2011.
Grants will be made at the discretion of the Spirit of Milwaukee. All decisions will be final. For more information, contact Spirit of Milwaukee President Dean Amhaus at (414) 828-3817 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
