This week at the 4th Street Forum: As background or foreground, race is an unavoidable fixture in media. Any given report can reinforce, challenge, or simply skirt racial presuppositions. How are our accounts of race shaped by the media? Are those accounts fair? How can we be savvy media consumers?
This week, the 4th Street Forum gathered a great group of panelists to take on these topics, including Jill Geisler, Director of Leadership and Management at the Poynter Institute, Eugene Kane, Metro-Columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Raul Vasquez, Editor and Associate Publish of Aqui Milwaukee Magazine, Joanne Williams, Vice President of Public Relations & Marketing at Cardinal Stritch University.
Catch the full episode of 4th Street Forum on MPTV this Friday at 10PM (Channel 10) and on Sunday afternoon at 3PM (Channel 36).
The 4th Street Forum is back next week with “Stimulating Milwaukee's Green Economy.” Federal stimulus money is flowing -- it could nurture green jobs, energy, and transit. But will bureaucratic inertia and a powerful status quo stifle Wisconsin’s green future?
