Besides the obvious showcases, SXSW puts on numerous enteraining and informative panels.  One of the panels, I attended was called Snacky Tunes: Food, Music & Internet Radio. The panel was hosted by twin brothers -  Darin and Greg Bresnitz, who host an internet radio show by the name in New York. On their radio show, Snacky Tunes, the brothers invite some of the country's  chefs, foodies, DJs, bands and musicians to discuss current and relevant topics on food and music.  For the panel, the brothers invited Chef Richard Blais (Top Chef), and Amrit Singh (Executive Editor, Stereogum) to recreate their radio show at SXSW.

It was a really interesting discussion, but there was one thing that really caught my attention. Amrit Singh, who also works for the Stereogum, produced a film called Dosa Hunt. What is a Dosa, you ask? According to the "reliable" source Wikipedia:

Dosa or Thosai or Dosé is a fermented crepe or pancake made from rice batter and black lentils. It is indigenous to and is a staple dish in the southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, as well as being popular in Sri Lanka. Dosa is also popular in Malaysia and Singapore, where the name Thosai is more common, and in Myanmar as Toshay.

Now that you are familiar with this South Indian Cuisne, I can now get into this interesting film. Dosa Hunt, co-created & produced by Amrit Singh, tells the story of 7 guys with musical backgrounds and their search for the perfect Dosa.  The film features Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend), Vijay Iyer, Ashok Kondabolu (Das Racist), Alan Palomo (Neon Indian), Amrit Singh (Stereogum), Himanshu Suri (Das Racist), Anand Wilder (Yeasayer).

The film has no release date, but expect a release sometime in 2012. Take a look at the trailer for Dosa Hunt.
