Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day, which is a federal holiday that marks the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. There are many ways to honor the civil rights leader today from attending events to listening to speaches and various stories related to Martin Luther King Jr. Here are some suggestions and links:
In the first hour, we played new tunes from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Mayer Hawthorne’s side project Tuxedo, D’Angelo, and Rhythm Lab Radio Artist To Watch Natalie Prass. Finally, we introduced you to a jazz-soul trio out of Los Angeles by the name of Moonchild.
In the second hour, we featured new music from Beat Spacek’s forthcoming album, plus new tracks from the DJ/production collective Future Brown, whose debut album will be released out on Warp Records. Finally, we played two new tracks from Minneapolis artists Doomtree and Sarah White.

Our city has some fantastic musicians. Many of them are signed to major labels and recognized nationally. For as much pride this city has in itself, and we have pride in the musicians and the Milwaukee music scene here. So, I decided to call some of our talented musicians around the city and I asked them to sit down with me and talk about music. Bard & Bourbon is dedicated to performing beautiful, fully staged productions of classical works with a touch of irreverence. Each production features small non-traditional casts playing multiple parts while getting one actor very drunk over the course of the show.
