Alex de Grassi has been a unique voice in the world of acoustic guitar for over 30 years, and his innovative approach to composing and arranging for solo steel-string guitar has influenced generation of players. On March 30th he travels to the UWM campus to offer a live performance.

"A Story of Floating Weeds" is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed films by the legendary Japanese filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu. The film follows a group of traveling actors who seem to be drifting aimlessly, carried by currents beyond their control. Alex de Grassi, who wrote the orginal acoustic guitar score, will offer a live performance of the soundtrack.

Unruly Music presents virtuoso performances of postclassical music, spanning a wide variety of genres and styles while exploring contemporary trends in chamber music, improvisation, and electronic sound. The Spring 2012 series includes performances by Minneapolis percussionist Patti Cudd (of Zeitgeist), Dal Niente, and a celebration of John Cage.
