88Nine Radio Milwaukee joins the public radio video network, Vuhaus

Anderson Paak

How does this sound?

You turn on your phone or computer, go to radiomilwaukee.wpengine.com, and watch intimate, private performances from bands you love – and new artists you might want to check out.
Radio Milwaukee has joined VuHaus, a video network of community-supported radio stations like ours from around the country.

Often, when artists are on tour, they’ll play private sessions at radio stations. (We call ours “Studio Milwaukee” sessions.) Now, when our VuHaus partners record or stream studio sessions with visiting artists, we will share them on our website.

And when we shoot sessions in our performance space, we’ll do the same -- sharing them with you and stations in the VuHaus network.

So far, 20 stations are in VuHaus, including KEXP in Seattle, KCRW in Los Angeles, WXPN in Philadelphia and KUTX in Austin -- some of our most respected peers.

In just the past few months, VuHaus stations have shot sessions with such artists as Sylvan Esso, Anderson .Paak, Gorillaz, the New Pornographers, Chicano Batman and Future Islands.

In some cases, we’ll stream the sessions live. We’ll also feature a “Song of the Day” – a single song from one of the stations’ sessions -- each weekday on our website. You can also go to our VuHaus channel.

Because of our generous supporters, we’re have equipped our performance space with the cameras and related equipment to capture the sessions at Radio Milwaukee.

It’ll take us a few weeks to work out the bugs. But we’re excited that soon, we’ll be sharing our sessions with the rest of the country. And not just touring musicians – but Milwaukee musicians, who perform at “414 Live” each Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

We’re also sharing the excellent videos produced locally by Hear Here.

Our hope: through this network, we will expose the rest of the country to the talent in Milwaukee’s music scene.

So, welcome to VuHaus. We hope you enjoy watching your favorites ... and discovering some new ones.
