If you’ve ever perused Grand Avenue Mall around the holidays, there’s a very likely chance you’ve stumbled across a… well, touring orchestra of sorts, playing in the lobby.

Conducted by the very own Leonard Bearstein himself, the Leonard Bearstein Symphony Orchestra has become a quirky holiday staple for many here in Milwaukee. Featuring fifteen animatronic bears playing holiday classics, including “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” the bears have graced us with their presence for over ten years now.

But where did the bears come from, anyhow?
