It's different kind of social network — one that's aimed at where you live, precisely narrowed to your neighborhood.
Right now, thousands of people in the Greater Milwaukee area are connecting on Nextdoor.com, using it to become better acquainted, share common interests and report local crime and safety data, according to the website's co-founder Nirav Tolia.
Because each neighborhood's website is private — closed to people outside a geographical boundary — users must first verify their physical address to use the site. Once they're in, they can begin to interact with people nearby.
