If you are a chef or a restaurant and have an announcement or an event, please send any information or press release to thisbites@radiomilwaukee.org.
This week, two new restaurants opened in Walker's Point. Bowls and Laughing Taco both had soft openings.  ‘Bowls’ is a new venture from The National’s Nell Benton and Float Milwaukee’s Andy Larson.  ‘Bowls’ will serve a variety of items hot and cold like tuna poke, miso quinoa bowl and more. Bowls is located at 207 W Freshwater Way.  Check out their menu here.

Laughing Taco is a new venture from Ardent's Justin Carlisle and his wife, Lucia.  Laughing Taco is located at 1033 S. 1st St.  The restaurant feats a small selection of tacos like seasoned pork, steak, potato and tomato suace, nopalitos aka cactus with mild chile sauce, and more.  You can also get alcoholic slushies like Carlisle's Red Light Ramen.

Hello Falafel's Champagne & Shawarma event

If you are headed down to Bay View Gallery Night this evening, make sure you stop in at Hello Falafel for their late night Champagne & Shawarma event. There will be lamb or vegan mushroom shawarma from Chefs Ross & Theresa from 9 pm till they run out, served alongside sparkling wine & spritzers.

Epicurean Evening

Epicurean Evening is a gala-style event with a multi-course dinner featuring area celebrity chefs. With events in both Madison and Milwaukee, you can enjoy a great evening of delicious, locally-sourced and prepared food while supporting our state’s natural heritage.

Epicurean Evening will take place at Discovery World on June 8. Chefs taking part in the event include Adam Siegel (Lake Park Bistro), Justin Aprahamian (Sanford), and Peter Sandroni (La Merenda)

Ginner Dinner at Blue's Egg

On June 9, Blue's Egg will be exploring the most enigmatic and dynamic of spirits with a special “Ginner” at Blue’s Egg. An educational exploration of New World vs. Old World and everything in between, the gin dinner features an hors d’oeuvres reception and four-course dinner paired with gin cocktails.

You will  enjoy cocktails crafted with unique products, including Beefeater 24, a London Dry gin steeped for 24 hours with Japanese and Chinese teas and citrus botanicals; Tanqueray Bloomsbury, a Juniper-forward London Dry based on an 1880s recipe; and Driftless Glen Double Cask, aged in new charred oak and used bourbon barrels in Baraboo, Wisconsin. They've also linked up with Black Dot, Twisted Path, and Plymouth.

Badger Liquor cocktail impresario Tripp Duval will introduce cocktails, ideas, and history about each featured cocktail, including the Sloe Gin Fizz, Negroni, Gin Gimlet, and the French 75.

Friday, June 9, 6:30 p.m., $85; includes hors d’oeuvres reception and four-course dinner paired with gin cocktails; gratuity and tax not included. Call Blue’s Egg at 414-299-3180 for reservations; reservations required.
