What kind of cuisines are missing in Milwaukee's restaurant scene

Each Friday at 8 am on 88Nine, Milwaukee Magazine’s dining critic, Ann Christenson, and 88Nine foodie Tarik Moody discuss Milwaukee’s culinary and restaurant culture.

On this week’s show, we talked about what cuisines are missing in Milwaukee. We also talked about Iron Grate BBQ’s new location and Lazy Susan Korean Fried Chicken Thursdays.

If you are a chef or a restaurant and have an announcement or an event, please send any information or press release to thisbites@radiomilwaukee.org.

Over on Milwaukee Magazine's website, Ann has a column called 'Ask Ann.'  In the latest edition,  she was asked,  "what are some gaps you see in the Milwaukee dining market?"

We talked about cuisines like German, Polish, Russian and Filipino that are lacking in Milwaukee.  I brought up the fact that there still is no proper dim sum restaurant in the city.  What are your thoughts?

Iron Grate BBQ's new location

Today, Iron Grate's new location will be open for business. The address of the new spot is located at 125 S. Howell Ave. In addition to the menu that was available at the old location, they will be offering chicken, hush puppies, BBQ shrimp, and melted cheese curds.

Lazy Susan's Korean Fried Chicken Thursdays

Every Thursday, Bay View's Lazy Susan will offer Korean Fried Chicken. The main difference between Korean Fried Chicken and American style is that it is fried twice. This makes for a crunchier chicken.

Lazy Susan's Korean Fried chicken is first come, first served — If you want to guarantee you have a chance at trying this special treat give them a call to reserve your half or whole chicken for Thursday night.
