MPS Arts@Large Culinary Arts Program

MPS will host an open house for their Culinary Arts Program on Dec. 17 at 908 South 5th Street.  The open house will include coffee tastings, student presentations, and more.

The Arts @ Large Culinary Arts program is an arts-based program with two major components: an in-school introduction to the culinary arts, and an after school barista training component. The Culinary Arts introduction program (new in the 2016-17 school year) provides high school 9th & 10th grade students with the opportunity to explore the skills needed to start and run a culinary-based business; including basic culinary techniques, compost management, and marketing/branding.

Bumstead Provisions' Blazin' and Boilin' Victory at Sea Day

On Dec. 18, Bumstead will team up with Ballast Point brewery for a seafood boil and beer tastings. They will be serving seafood boil bags with clams, mussels, crab, shrimp, and crawfish that will include three flavors: Blazin' and Boilin', Lemon Pepper and Garlic Butter. The bags will also include Andouille sausage, potato and corn.

1st Annual Black Husky Christmas Cookie Exchange

Riverwest's Black Husky brewery will be hosting its 1st annual Christmas Cookie Exchange on Dec. 17 from 2pm - 10pm.  Bring your favorite holiday cookies to share.

"Cost" of admission is at least one non-perishable food item to be donated to the Riverwest Food Pantry

Dickens Dinners at the Grain Exchange

Bartolottas will host a series of dinners inspired by the Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol." The dinners will be held on Dec. 17, 19 and 20. at the Grain Exchange.

The grandiose ballroom will be decorated for the season by local designers and florists, and you and your family will enjoy holiday beverages, butler-style passed appetizers, and a three course English feast as "Charles Dickens" reads excerpts from his famous story and carolers dressed in period costumes serenade you.

You’ll also enjoy complimentary parking behind the Mackie Building (based on availability), a self-guided tour of both floors of the ballroom with docents present to answer questions, a champagne reception with unlimited beer, wine and soda, and a signature souvenir Christmas Ornament.

Live the magic on Saturday, December 17. Hors d’oeuvres and bar service begin at 6:00 p.m. with complimentary beer, wine, and soda (cash bar will be available); dinner and entertainment will follow.
