Finding the perfect turkey for Thanksgiving
Milwaukee Magazine published an article on places to find the perfect bird for Thanksgiving. Ann Christenson shared four places to pick up a heritage turkey - Kettle Range Meat Company, Bunzel’s Meats and Catering, Bavette La Boucherie, and Dominion Valley Farm.
If you are from the South like me, you know deep fried turkey is where it's at. However, it can be very dangerous to deep fry your own turkey. You can pick up a whole deep fried turkey from a place in Chicago called Jive Turkey. They offer 15 flavors to choose from including cajun, jerk, roasted garlic, lemon pepper and more!
Bavette's 4th annual meat raffle on Nov. 21 and 22
Bavette will be hosting fourth annualUplands cheese tasting and meat raffle on November 21 and 22. There will be two raffles, one on each evening. Each year, Uplands farm buys some Berkshire piglets to raise at the farm, feeding it the whey from the cheesemaking and letting them out to pasture. They then finish the hogs on acorns. The result is delicious, nutty pork. Bavette will butcher the whole hog ahead of time and then for $3 per ticket, raffle off the cuts.
Harbor House's new late-night menu
Every Wednesday in November, Harbor House will have a late-night menu beginning at 10pm.
