If you love cheese, beer, Mezcal, bread, kimchi, kombucha, then the annual Fermentation Fest is for you. Taking place over two weekends – Oct 6 & 8 and Oct 13 & 15 in Reedsburg, Fermentation Fest is a celebration of all things that are fermented.Fermentation Fest brings together farmers, chefs, artists, poets, and performers for tastings, demonstrations, cooking classes, art events, performances, food carts and more.
I have never seen a food event like this. There are over 60 classes and workshops that will teach you about the microscopic organisms that make some of your favorite foods. In addition to classes, the festival will offer a variety of events from a Mezcal dinner to a chocolate & beer pairing event. Here are some classes that will be available

Kid-made Bowls: $10 each – includes 2 soup tickets
Soups prepared by local chefs are served with bread and other refreshments. Some of the area’s top musicians entertain guests throughout the day. (Check back here or at our website as we continue to update information on this year’s restaurants and supporters!) Guests take their bowls home to serve as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in our community.
With the involvement and support of MSOE, local businesses and nearly 300 volunteers, proceeds from this year’s event will benefit several agencies in the Milwaukee area. A new vegan restaurant called Strange Town recently opened in the old Alium space on the East Side. Started by DJ Andy Noble (Kings Go Forth, The Get Down), Strange Town features an all plant-based menu including a pizza of the day. In addition to the food, Noble plans to invite DJs for to spin records a few nights a week.
Kick Hunger Challenge
On Oct. 23, Taste of the NFL and Hunger Task Force teamed up for the ‘Kick Hunger Challenge‘ at Sanford. The challenge is a national fundraiser which pairs up local chefs with food banks to raise funds for hunger relief.
A social hour kicks off the evening at 5:30pm with a cash bar, complimentary passed appetizers and a raffle for an autographed Jordy Nelson game jersey. Guests will be seated for a 4-course dinner at 6:30pm, which will include:
