Interested applicants must have at least five years professional on-air radio experience in announcing and producing content.

Through his/her passion and knowledge of the music we play, the Afternoon Drive Announcer guides and entertains the audience on a journey of music discovery.
The Afternoon Drive Announcer prepares and hosts WYMS’s unique and diverse music programming. Preparation and presentation of on-air shift includes sharing knowledge of music with the audience, incorporating upcoming music events into the program, forward promoting other Radio Milwaukee programs as necessary, becoming familiar with underwriting and promo spots and most importantly becoming an entertainment fixture in the community. The Announcer communicates with the audience in an engaging manner with a focus on music discovery. This engagement continues before and after the on-air shift, by assisting listeners and answering questions and assisting the media department with blog posts, video and special projects.
The Afternoon Drive Announcer will preview music and recommend additions to the on-air music library with other staff members at the weekly music meetings. The Afternoon Drive Announcer will work closely with Program Director to maximize his/her on-air performance.
The Afternoon Drive Announcer will represent WYMS and engage with audiences at various events in the Radio Milwaukee performance space and greater Milwaukee. A strong knowledge of the Milwaukee culture is important to this position’s performance.
In addition to on-air performance other areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: production of music features, blogging, video collaboration projects, interviewing artists and bands on stage and in the studio. The Afternoon Drive Announcer, like all on-air presenters ensures that daily FCC Operations Logs and WYMS Program Logs are followed and signed off on during the on-air shift.
Participates in on-air fundraising membership drives as well as station development and promotional functions.
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned Program Director
Skills, Education & Experience:
Five years professional on-air radio experience in announcing and producing content
Extensive knowledge of the Indie/Triple A music formats
Knowledge of digital recording and editing equipment
Strong interview, writing and production skills, as well as on-air presentation
Familiarity with MusicMaster or other music scheduling software
Familiarity with ENCO or other automation systems
Familiarity with Final Cut Pro, iMovie video software is a bonus
